Za tímto účelem jsou z operačních systémů vyfiltrována a agregována data, která jsou zpřístupněna uživateli, a to buď interaktivně, nebo formou předem definovaných zpráv a souhrnných dat. Tyto funkce se v podstatě vztahují ke všem funkčním oblastem společnosti, zvlášť s ohledem na řízení statistických výsledků.
